Welcome to the first post of DSD Discussions. Soon we'll be posting our first podcast to discuss the various aspects and implications of DSD.
DSD stands for Disorders of Sexual Development, the newish way to talk about intersex conditions. I actually prefer Differences of Sexual Development over Disorder because I don't believe we have anything that needs to be fixed, which I feel disorder implies. I have a lot more to say about this topic but will go into that another time and/or on the podcast. For now, I want to establish this blog and address and start generating some interest from possible contributors and associates.
I hope that we'll be able to bring the issues of DSDs to a wider audience, start some discussions about sometimes difficult topics, and explore what it all means. Obviously, there are as many individual experiences of DSD as there are people who have one, so this will be my experience, and the experience of those who wish to contribute here, but it will by no means capture what it is for everyone. Still, I hope that it will provide a means of education, advocacy, and discussion. Thanks!
